Learn exactly what Varnish is. Discover much more about web accelerators and their role.
Varnish is a web accelerator platform, which caches data for the sake of faster access. It is occasionally referred to as an HTTP reverse proxy as well and it works between a web server and an Internet browser. When a site visitor loads a given web page, its content is requested by the Internet browser, and then the server handles this browser request and returns the requested information. If Varnish is enabled for a given website, it will cache the pages on the very first visit and in case the visitor opens a cached page once more, the information will be delivered by the caching platform and not by the web server. The accelerated load speed is an end result of the significantly faster response speed that the Varnish platform offers compared with any server software. Of course, this does not mean that the website visitors will keep seeing the same content again and again, since any update on any of the web pages is reflected in the content that Varnish stores in its system memory.
Varnish in Hosting
Varnish is offered as an optional upgrade with all our hosting. You can add it to your website hosting account from the Hepsia Control Panel, which is offered with all shared web hosting packages and you’ll get a rather easy-to-use graphical interface, which will give you complete control over the caching system. Using one-click quick-access controls, you can restart or cancel any of the instances, i.e. Varnish will no longer work for a particular Internet site. You can also see a detailed system log file or erase the cache for any of the sites. When you add Varnish to your web hosting package, you’ll be able to select the maximum amount of memory that will be available to you for data caching purposes and how many sites will use Varnish. You can always get more memory in increments of 32 megabytes and, for maximum performance, you can allocate a dedicated IP address to the websites that will use Varnish. This will enable you to take full advantage of your sites and to have a lot of happy site visitors.
