Started in 2001, the Dot NAME universal domain name extension is the sole TLD intended for personal web pages only. These domains can consist of personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other titles people are popular by. Initially, only 3rd-level registrations were possible, so if you planned to buy john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already bought third-level domain names remained running.

You will have the chance to modify the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to edit Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already registered domain to our firm if you acquire its EPP transfer authorization code from the present domain provider and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been finalized. There are no particular requirements on who can acquire a dot NAME domain, but in order to keep the idea behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry may check who the Registrant is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration could be challenged.
